The common house centipede is normally about an inch or a little better in length.  These “occassional invaders” will normally be found in damp areas of a structure such as a crawlspace or damp basement.  House centipedes are found in relatively few numbers, sometimes one to two or up to as many as half a dozen to a dozen in a home.  The common house centipede would indeed have a difficult time breaking the skin to bite a person, although it has happened on occassion.  The bite has been compared to that of a bee or wasp sting.  Their bite is not lethal to children or adults.

A thorough inspection of the structure would reveal the best formulations to use and the best locations to place the insecticide application(s) to contol  this pest in your home.
