Utah Bee Removal

June 15th, 2010 by Carl

Bees are beneficial!  They pollinate our plants and produce honey.

Sometimes bees can present a safety risk when they set up hives in or around structures.  If a bee hive is in the open environment then it can be extracted.  If the hive is enclosed in a structure it may be removed at the cost of opening up part of the structure or by destruction of the hive.

If you need a BEE HIVE IN UTAH REMOVED, relocated or eliminated you may contact Extermiman® to help.

Pest Control in Utah

May 30th, 2010 by Carl

Utah pest control services are available at Extermiman®.  At Extermiman we strive to provide pest control services to our clients that are competitively priced, effective and safe.

Pest control in northern Utah tends to follow a predictable cycle.  Many of the pest problems people deal with go hand in hand with the weather patterns.  Since northern Utah experiences a winter freeze many insects go into a state of hibernation known as diapause.  Most insects possess a chemical in their bodies which acts as an antifreeze during this time of the year as well.  Spiders will seek shelter in overwintering sites.  Ant, spider and termite activity tend to slow in the winter but are not entirely eliminated.  Some spiders and insects may stay active in the winter once the have found shelter situated underneath or inside of a structure that is able to sustain warmth and resources during this time of the year.

Rodents tend to be a problem all throughout the year with an increase of indoor structural activity in the winter for most residents in the valley areas.  Mice seek shelter and food sources indoors because food sources start to become restricted outdoors during the winter months.

German cockroaches and bed bugs tend to be a year round problem because they solely reside inside of structures and do not move around outdoors.  Bed bugs and german cockroaches are almost strictly introduced by personal transport on a person or in some type of personal belongings, packaging, etc.  A rare exception may be a building that is over run with german cockroaches that make a quick migration to a neighboring structure because the structure can no longer support the current population.  These levels of cockroach infestations tend to be minimal and exist because of extremely poor sanitation practices on the part of an occupant in most cases.

Spring normally presents the first major signs of pest control problems in Utah.  Spiders and insects begin to emerge from over wintering sites.  Many begin to lay eggs or to finish maturity in preparation for their reproductive cycles.  The months of March, April and May tend to be unpredictable in terms of weather.  Warming trends may start as early as January and February on the other hand winter conditions may sometimes persist into the late spring and even early summer.  Many people are encourage not to plant annuals until May 15th or after for this very reason.

When summer arrives or when the warming trend has sustained temperatures of 70 degrees + for 1 to 2 weeks spiders and insects begin to make their presence well known.  It is during the summer time that spider and insect activity are abundant and quite visible.  Wasps become a threat for many as hives tend to be in full production.

Sometime around September the temperatures take a noticeable dip.  Once this occurs spiders and insects begin to make their way indoors seeking shelter for the winter.  Some will reside closely to outer areas of the building moving in when cold and out when warm.  This back and forth action makes many pest problems very evident.

As the cold then sets in for the winter the cycle repeats itself.

This world of the small is teaming with life.  We acknowledge that many beneficial spiders and insects live among this tiny world of creatures.  We also recognize that dangerous, nuisance and economically significant pests also reside in this realm of existence.  It is the latter that we take a stand against striving to implement strategies that cause as little collateral damage as possible.  We recognize that each situation is unique and should be dealt with accordingly.
